ROSSS pallet racking
Client: FAMAR
Location: Thebes
Year: 2021
SPIMA Ltd delivered the design, supply and installation of ROSSS pallet racking for the FAMAR distribution centre extension in Thebes. The project equipped the new DC area with adjustable pallet racking configured for palletised storage, giving FAMAR a structured, high-density storage layout to support the expanded footprint of its distribution operations. ROSSS pallet racking is a selective, beam-based system engineered for direct access to every pallet position. For a distribution centre handling a broad SKU range, this direct-access configuration allows operators to reach any pallet without relocating others, which suits mixed-product picking and fast stock rotation. The extension of the FAMAR facility called for racking that integrated cleanly with the existing building envelope and warehouse workflow, and the layout was planned around the available floor area, aisle requirements and the handling equipment already in use on site. The scope covered the full project lifecycle rather than a supply-only order: - **Design** — Layout planning for the extension DC, tailored to FAMAR's storage profile, aisle configuration and available space in Thebes. - **Supply** — Provision of the complete ROSSS pallet racking system, including uprights, beams and associated components. - **Installation** — On-site assembly and commissioning of the racking within the extended distribution centre. Selective ROSSS pallet racking is a widely specified choice for distribution centres because it balances storage capacity with accessibility. Each bay can be adjusted on the upright frames to accommodate different pallet heights, allowing the system to adapt as FAMAR's product mix and storage requirements change over time. This flexibility is particularly valuable in a facility extension, where the new capacity must serve both current inventory and future growth without requiring a redesign of the storage structure. By handling design, supply and installation as a single coordinated project, SPIMA Ltd ensured the pallet racking in the FAMAR Thebes extension was dimensioned, delivered and built to match the operational needs of the distribution centre. The result is a functional storage area that extends FAMAR's warehousing capacity and integrates with the existing DC, ready for palletised goods and day-to-day handling operations. For procurement and operations teams planning a distribution centre extension or a new warehouse fit-out, this project demonstrates how ROSSS pallet racking can be specified and installed to expand storage capacity within an active logistics facility.
