MECANO Mezzanine Installation for FINIRIS

FINIRIS required additional operational space without relocating or expanding their existing facility footprint. The project demanded a structural solution that would create a functional upper level while maintaining full access to the ground floor work area below.

The constraint lay in achieving this expansion without compromising the building's existing infrastructure or disrupting ongoing operations during installation. The solution needed to be freestanding, capable of supporting 1000kgs/m2, and designed to integrate safely with the facility's existing layout and operational workflows.

SPIMA specified and installed a MECANO freestanding mezzanine system from ROSSS with integrated staircase access. The MECANO platform was selected for its modular design, which allowed installation without structural modifications to the existing building. The freestanding configuration meant no load transfer to perimeter walls, eliminating the need for building reinforcement work.

The mezzanine structure provided 96 total m² of additional usable upper-level area. The integrated staircase was positioned to optimise workflow and maintain clear circulation paths on the ground floor. The system was designed to accommodate extra box storage while allowing extra offices to be built underneath.

SPIMA's project scope included structural design calculations, supply of all MECANO components, on-site assembly, and a sliding gate and protective rails. The installation was completed within a few days, allowing FINIRIS to immediately utilise the additional operational capacity without facility downtime.

The completed mezzanine delivered a permanent space solution that effectively doubled the usable area within the same building envelope, providing FINIRIS with the operational expansion required for growing inventory.
