MECANO Freestanding Mezzanine Installation for VOICI LA MODE

Client: VOICI LA MODE

Year: 2018

VOICI LA MODE, a Cyprus-based fashion retailer, required additional floor space to accommodate growing inventory without relocating or expanding their building footprint. With ground-level retail operations continuing uninterrupted, the company needed a storage solution that would maximise vertical space while maintaining safe access for staff.

The challenge centred on creating usable storage area above the existing retail floor without disrupting daily operations or requiring structural modifications to the building itself. Traditional mezzanine installations that anchor to walls or columns would have been impractical, requiring building modifications and potentially limiting future layout flexibility.

SPIMA specified a MECANO freestanding mezzanine system designed to support the load requirements of fashion retail inventory. The freestanding structure relies on its own framework rather than building attachments, allowing installation without altering the existing premises. This approach meant VOICI LA MODE could proceed without landlord complications or permanent structural changes.

The installation included an integrated staircase providing safe, code-compliant access between floor levels. The MECANO system's modular design allowed the configuration to fit the available footprint while providing additional storage capacity.

The freestanding design offered particular advantages for a retail tenant. The system can be dismantled and relocated if VOICI LA MODE moves premises, protecting the capital investment. The structure distributes loads through its own columns rather than requiring floor reinforcement, and installation proceeded without the noise, dust and disruption associated with welding or concrete work in an active retail environment.

The completed mezzanine gave VOICI LA MODE the additional storage space required to support business growth while keeping the ground floor dedicated to customer-facing retail operations. The staircase integration ensured staff could move inventory between levels efficiently and safely. The project demonstrated how freestanding mezzanine systems address space constraints in retail and warehouse environments where permanent structural modifications are undesirable or prohibited.
