MECANO Freestanding Mezzanine for Medochemie, Limassol

Medochemie, a pharmaceutical manufacturer operating in Limassol, required additional storage capacity without disrupting active production operations or compromising the structural integrity of their existing facility.

The challenge lay in creating usable warehouse space within an operational pharmaceutical environment where construction work needed to proceed without interfering with daily manufacturing activities and strict cleanroom protocols. The client needed a storage solution that could be installed with minimal downtime and without permanent alterations to the building structure.

SPIMA specified and installed a MECANO freestanding mezzanine system from ROSSS. The freestanding design was critical to this project: unlike conventional mezzanines that require attachment to building columns or walls, a freestanding structure carries its entire load on independent support columns. This meant the installation could proceed without structural modifications to Medochemie's pharmaceutical facility, eliminating the need for building permits related to permanent alterations and allowing the mezzanine to be relocated or reconfigured if future operational needs changed.

The MECANO system's modular construction allowed SPIMA's installation team to assemble the structure in a phased approach that minimised disruption to adjacent production areas.

The project scope included complete design and installation services. SPIMA's designed the layout while themanufacturer produced structural calculations and layout drawings specific to Medochemie's floor plan and loading requirements, ensuring the mezzanine met both the client's operational needs and Cyprus building regulations for industrial structures.

The completed mezzanine preserved Medochemie's full functionality of the ground-level warehouse area beneath, while installing light duty shelving on top. The freestanding design allows Medochemie to adapt the structure if their pharmaceutical operations expand or storage patterns shift, providing long-term flexibility that fixed construction cannot offer.
