MECANO Free-Standing Mezzanine for Shatro Engineering

Shatro Engineering, Limassol required additional operational space without the constraints of a building-integrated structure. The requirement was for a free-standing mezzanine solution that would provide 180 m2 area while maintaining safe access and material handling capability.

The challenge lay in creating a flexible intermediate level that could be installed in the warehouse without permanent alterations to the building structure.

SPIMA specified a MECANO free-standing mezzanine system, engineered to provide 250kgs/m2 across the elevated platform. The structure was designed with two staircases to ensure rapid access for personnel and compliance with workplace safety standards.

Five sliding gates were integrated into the mezzanine perimeter to facilitate controlled goods handling. The sliding gates are 1400mm wide allow pallets to be moved safely onto the mezzanine with a forklift. The sliding mechanism ensures the openings remain secure when not in use while providing full-width access during loading operations.

The MECANO system's modular design allowed the mezzanine to be assembled quickly with minimal disruption to Shatro Engineering's ongoing operations. The free-standing construction means the installation requires no structural connection to the building fabric, preserving the option to relocate or reconfigure the system as operational requirements evolve.

The completed mezzanine provides Shatro Engineering with added floor space within their existing footprint, enabling increased storage. The dual-staircase configuration ensures quick access and supports efficient workflow between levels throughout the working day.
