Advantages of the Orbiter
What gives the orbiter the advantage over the traditional satellite system?
- Docking station concept with warning lights eliminates any possibility of personnel entering the active lane, increasing safety as per Machine directive 2006/42/EC
- Docking station has inclined sides to aid the positioning of the pallet by the forklift driver
- The docking station eases channel changes with the orbiter as one is not retrieving the Orbiter directly but the docking station with the Orbiter, thereby minimizing damage risk to the Orbiter itself
- Redundant parts in the shuttle eliminates any possibility of uncontrolled movement of the shuttle; when the master component fails, the slave part is activated and takes control
- Using the latest cell technology, the shuttle recharging is carried out on every cycle via the use of power caps, thereby eliminating the need to recharge outside of the rack; this increases operational efficiency greatly, as well as the need to purchase batteries approx every 12 months (on single shift) at extra cost of approx 800EUR a piece
